Sustainability at Peppers Blue on Blue

Here at Peppers Blue on Blue we are committed to embedding sustainability into every facet of our daily operations. We recognise that sustainability is an ongoing journey and are continually striving to reduce our carbon footprint wherever possible. Below are some of the initiatives we have implemented to date.

Dry Amenities

We are delighted to share our ongoing commitment to reducing single-use plastics in our guest rooms. As part of this initiative, we have made a significant decision to eliminate single-use dry amenities, taking a bold step towards a plastic-free environment.

We understand the importance of preserving our planet for future generations. By removing single-use plastic amenities such as toothbrushes, combs, and shower caps from our guest rooms, we are significantly reducing our environmental footprint. Instead, guests can request dry amenities by calling room service or visiting our friendly team at reception.

Large Amenities

As part of our ongoing efforts, we have made the proactive decision to move to large format amenities, replacing our single-use plastic common amenities with eco-friendly pump dispensers throughout the hotel. By eliminating single-use plastic bottles, we are significantly reducing the amount of waste generated by our operations. This commitment aligns with our dedication to environmental stewardship and reflects our ongoing efforts to improve sustainability in all aspects of our hotel.

Food Waste

At Peppers Blue on Blue, we are committed to reducing food wastage and promoting sustainable practices across our food and beverage outlets and conferencing department. We understand the importance of minimising our environmental impact while delivering exceptional culinary experiences to our guests.

Recycling

At Peppers Blue on Blue, our hotel waste is separated into co-mingle, cardboard and general waste, minimising our impact on landfill.  In addition we have taken a number of steps to further reduce water and embrace a circular system.

Community Support

We are committed to maintaining strong connections with our local community and give back wherever possible, including to the below organisations:

  • MINT – Magnetic Island Network for Turtles
  • Pilgrim sailing – locally owned and operated tour operator
  • The Hive Magnetic Island – locally produced honey products

Accessibility

At Peppers Blue on Blue, we strive to accommodate the diverse needs of all our guests, including those with mobility challenges. While we don't currently have dedicated accessible rooms, our open-plan apartments are designed with spacious layouts to provide ease of movement and comfort for all guests.

Our apartments feature wide doorways and corridors, allowing for easy navigation with mobility aids such as wheelchairs or walkers, and our pathways through the resort are equipped with handrails and mobility ramps for easy manoeuvrability. In our carpark, we have underground accessible parking located by a lift for easy access to ground level. We are also welcoming of assistance animals onsite.

Additionally, our friendly staff are available to assist with any specific accessibility needs or requests to ensure that every guest enjoys a comfortable and memorable stay with us.
